Woman are portrayed as weak in Maus. In this book all womans are portrayed as weak. There is few woamn character but most mainly woman character is Lucia, Vladek's old girlfriend. Mala, Vladek's last wife, and Anja is main character form woman in Maus. Anja was Vladek's first wife that Vladek really loved.
Lucia is portrayed as weak to Vladek and his family. Lucia asked to Vladek to get engaged. That showed she worry about something, she want to get engaged fast before he get other girl, that show weakness of Lucia. Another situation was when Lucia send a bad letter about Vladek to Anja to feel bad. Vladek leave Lucia and went to Anja, so Lucia got mad and send a letter to Anja to make Anja's feel bad.
Mala is portrayed as weak to Vladek, Mala is last wife that after Anja dead. She portrayed as weak, she don't say anything about past with Vladek. She don't say to Vladek but she talked to Artie, that show Mala scare to say something about past to Vladek. She know everything about about past, how the German people treat the people, what happend at the Poland becasue she was there at that time.
Anja is portrayed as weak to herself. She was crying and said "I just don't want to live." She had a baby, her father's factory got fall, and stress from all kind of stuff. She can't hold it herself, she need someone next to her. She can't even protect herself, she can't do anything by herself. I think she was the most suffer from the heart from woman character.
Author try to show womans are portrayed as weak. There was few woamn character but most mainly woman character is Lucia, Mala, and most importantly Anja.

If I hear stories about my father and woman who is not my mother, I will be interest about my father's story but not my mother. I don't want to know about not real mom. I feel bad to Vladek because he experiments all the survivur life and horrible thing. He had really hard and horrible life in past. Mala and Vladek should treat more better each other. Vladek can not forget past and Anja. Past is past, past do not come back again. I understand how he feel and it's hard to forget it, but if you always think about past, it can heart you, Vladek should think more about now and future. And for Mala, she knows better than me about what happend at the past and Vladek. They both should understand each other.

I will evaluate this book as one of my favorite book. I really like this book, I didn't finish this book yet but I'm sure I will enjoy this book until end of this book. This story was real and it's comic book so it show more detail and more interesting. I saw family, friend, love, happyness, sadness, anger, and hope. I saw a lot of things that control reader's think. I like the way this story keep going, like Artie go to his father Vladek's house and eat dinner or talk little about something and Vladek tell his the story about past. It not all about story every single time and pages, there is some now and past mixed up, that makes me more fun to read and more interesting.
In this book, it showes me a what did German to normal people and what happend. At the beginning of the book, when Artie's father said about friend, when I first read that something came in my mind. It gives me a one little hint of story to me. I was surprise when I saw about what German people do to the people. I heard about what German people do to the people before but I didn't know it was that bad. I didn't know what they do to people, on the book German people hang the normal people for punishment. Another surprise thing is when Vladek's father pulled out 14 teeth for not going to army. Also Vladek's father don't want him to go to army so, he try to make Vladec look unhealthy. He didn't give Vladec enogh food, and sleep than make him unhealthy. That was kind of surprised and it was interested. When I read chapter 4, the good thing was they had a enogh money for food for family. If they do not have enogh money, Vladek's family would be dead for hungry. They have large family, 12 members in family they need plenty of money for food.
I don't know middle and end of the story because I didn't finish yet, but I can guess what's going to happen next chapter. I really like this book and again aurther show a lots of story and things in comic book. Most improtantly, it's comic book so it's interesting and easy to understand. I will enjoy the book until end of this book, and I evaluate this book as really good.

We can't forget this tragedy, because it was too big tragedy to forget it. A lot of people dead, it's not my family or my friends but other people's family or friend. A lot of people got wound. There was no happy median, but maybe somewhere they can be happy for it. We force ourselves to forget because in the story, "When I was growing up, my father never talked about his time in concentration camps," it means he don't want to think about it. He don't want to talk and think about tragety because he already have wound on his mind. We force ourselves to forget.

Research Question: What was the Puritan’s attitude toward crime and punishment as portrayed in the novel “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathanial Hawthorne?
Winthrop, John, The History of New England 1630 to 1649 James Kendall Hosmer (ed.) (1908); Erikson, Kai T. Wayward Puritans (1966). Print.
This book gives an eyewitness of the public execution of a woman and a man who committed adultery in seventeenth century New England. The author was the first governor of Massachusetts and he describes an eyewitness account of the of the execution. I am using this book because it will help us to understand the attitudes toward moral sins and punishment in Puritan New England.
CHU, JONATHAN M. Neighbors, Friends, or Madmen: The Puritan Adjustment to Quakerism in Seventeenth-Century Massachusetts Bay.
Connecticut: Greenwood Press, Questia. 1985. 1-212. Print.
This book explains the rise of religious toleration in America through an examination of the Puritan response to Quakerism in seventeenth-century Massachusetts. The book casts the phenomenon in a new light, arguing that toleration for Quakerism emerged out of the very values and structures of Puritan life in Massachusetts Bay as early as the 1660s. I am using this book because it will show more about what Puritans did toward crime and punishment.
Smith, Roger. The History of Incarceration. Philadelphia: Mason Crest, Questia. 2007. 3-112. Print. <http://www.questiaschool.com/PM.qst?a=o&d=112921987>
Examines the history of punishment and imprisonment, including Babylon's Code of Hammurabi, Europe's medieval dungeons, and modern prisons, and discusses how ancient ideas have contribued to modern practices. Roger Smith was born in Johannesburg and now lives in Cape Town. His debut thriller, Mixed Blood (2009), was published in six countries and won the Deutscher Krimi Preis (German Crime Prize). His book was a 10 best pick of the Philadelphia Enquirer, Times (South Africa) and Krimiwelt (Germany) and was nominated for the German Krimi-Blitz Reader's Award .I'm using this book because I can see and figured out what puritan did and how they did and why.
Seelye, John. Memory's Nation: The Place of Plymouth Rock. Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, Questia. 1998. iii-704. Print.
Long celebrated as a symbol of the country's origins, Plymouth Rock no longer receives much national attention. In fact, historians now generally agree that the Pilgrims' storied landing on the Rock never actually took place? The tradition having emerged more than a century after the arrival of the Mayflower. John Seelye is Graduate Research Professor of American Literature at UF. Before moving to Gainesville in 1984, he was Distinguished Alumni Service Professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and had also taught at the University of Connecticut and the University of California, Berkeley. Seelye received his BA from Wesleyan in 1953 and his PhD from the Claremont Graduate School in 1961.

My favorite character were Hester and Pearl because they both are main character and they always have some kind of strange happening or situation. They make reader more interested and make the reader finish this book. First, Hester cakes out from the jail, that mean she did something bad thing. That makes me interesting and try to know why she went in to the jail. At the beginning Hester didn't have husband, but later Hester's husband showed up which is Roger. But the strange thing is Hester has baby with Dimmesdale. Hester had two relationship with Roger and Dimmesdale. That baby was Pearl, Pearl is not Roger's baby; Pearl is Dimmesdale's baby. The strange happened about Pearl is Pearl know what's happening in this story and think. Pearl was a baby, baby can't think that much, baby can't even speak. I think Hester and Pearl was main character and main point of this book.
